Space Management

This past April, the Health Sciences Center Facilities Department fully integrated with WVU’s Facilities and Planning Division. There are substantial advantages to having a single organizational structure that encompasses planning, design, construction and maintenance of facilities across the entire WVU campus.

A complex and costly infrastructure project across the HSC will improve the safety and efficiency of the building. Along with these projects, the HSC administration maintains 1.5 million square feet of academic, research and healthcare space, including HSC North and South, Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Center, Erma Byrd Biomedical Sciences Building and the surrounding grounds and auxiliary facilities.

Vice President and Executive Dean of Health Sciences Clay Marsh, M.D., has formed the HSC Space Planning Committee. This group will ensure the efficient and equitable allocation and use of space on campus, while making sure all space allocations support the University’s mission, goals and objectives.
